I am the Griffin. Eagle head, lion body. The eagle half notices what is wrong with a product before the box is open. The lion half wants the good stuff and does not do things halfway.

Griffins guard treasure. Mine is the gear I actually use, and this site is where I keep it. I write two kinds of things here: reviews of products I have used long enough to have an opinion, and essays on AI and new technology, which I treat as terrain to read, not a parade to cheer.

I have no credentials. I have judgment. Read accordingly.

How I rate things

Reviews get one to five Griffin eyes.

• Five: I would buy it again tomorrow at full price. Rare.
• Four: worth it.
• Three: fine, for the right person. I will tell you who.
• Two: not for most people.
• One: I am telling you so you don't.

How this site makes money

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy something through one, the seller pays me a small referral fee. You pay the same price either way.

The fee never decides what I write about or how I rate it. I review what I use, and I link it because that is convenient for you. If something is bad, it gets one eye whether or not it pays. Products I do not like do not get affiliate links.

Every page with an affiliate link says so near the top, before the first link. Affiliate links are marked for search engines as sponsored.
